Help us uncover the hidden stories of Lincoln’s women in the First World War and learn new skills along the way

Some exciting opportunities have arisen for volunteers aged 18 – 25 to work on a Heritage Lottery Fund project Green Fields Beyond, which is supported by BBC Lincolnshire. The Green Fields Beyond will research and interpret the history of the women who worked in the heavy engineering industry of Lincoln in the First World War; where the world’s first tanks were made and then used for the first time in the Battle of the Somme in 1916.

Through a series of training sessions you will learn invaluable skills in archive research, oral history gathering and digital social media production supported by BBC Lincolnshire and professional writers and historians.  The project will help you shape and interpret the stories into written and digital formats which will be published on web and broadcast platforms.  We will also be restaging a historic banquet relating to the tank factories in November!

We will be holding the first series of workshops in the week of July 20th and the research phase of the project will run until September.

The closing date for applications is 10th July

Please send a CV and cover letter to Jody Rothera at the above email address.

All the best,

Jody Rothera
